ERIK SATIE

Satie is pronounced: “sah-tee” 

“ GYMNOPEDIE” 
is a composed word which Satie derivated 
from two ancient Greek words:

"gymnasion"= school for gymnastics and, by extension, school for boys and girls

"paidos"= child, boy

The Three Gymnopedies (1888)

are the most famous of his piano works.

DIED:  July 1, 1925

PUMPED UP KICKS

"Pumped Up Kicks" is a song by American indie pop band Foster the People. It was released as the group's debut single in September 2010, and was later included on their EP Foster the People and their debut album Torches. "Pumped Up Kicks" became the group's breakthrough hit and was one of the most popular songs of 2011. The song was written and recorded by front man Mark Foster while he was working as a commercial jingle writer. Mark Foster explained the song's meaning, "'Pumped Up Kicks' is about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge." The song he said, "is really about bullying, and the tragedy that bullying produces ... if that kid retaliates in a nasty way; both sides end up being harmed."

DYNAMITE

This party anthem is the second single released by British R&B singer-songwriter and producer Taio Cruz in Canada and the US. It served as the follow-up to his #1 hit, "Break Your Heart." The song is taken from the international edition of Cruz's second album, Rokstarr (the song being released in the UK on the 23rd of August 2010). According to Cruz, "The song 'Dynamite' itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when you're just going out... you got to feel like, 'I'm just gonna explode.'"

BAD ROMANCE

"Bad Romance" is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga.

It was released as the lead single from her third extended play (EP), and second major release The Fame Monster (2009). Written by Lady Gaga and produced by RedOne. "Bad Romance" reached number one in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Denmark, also peaking at number two in countries such as the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
