WHAT WE DID TODAY #1-56: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2010

OBJECTIVE: Musical performance
QUOTE AUTHOR: Rossini
Italian opera composer

Practiced new holiday song: Peace Round using newly learned note F# [fingering T12356 or because the right hand looks like "ears" on a shadow puppet of a rabbit, I call the fingering for F# "ears" (middle fingers are down-mouth outer two fingers are up-ears)]
Reviewed the fingering on the recorder by changing the letter names to finger numbers.
Discussed what a round is. (Period 6 finished and turned in their musical Oliver report and will start this song tomorrow)

DECEMBER 9th is the holiday concert for chorus, band, and strings. Recorder students are invited to play their instruments ("recorder carolling") as the pre-concert activity outside of the gym. This is not mandatory; just a fun way to celebrate the holidays through music. We will play the holiday music learned in class. All students need to bring is their recorder; music and accompaniments will be already set-up. More details to follow as I get them.

BEGINNING VIOLIN PERIOD 5/ADVANCED VIOLIN PERIOD 4:
OBJECTIVE: PREPARATION FOR HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE ON DECEMBER 9th Went over directions for logistics at the concert. Went into the cafeteria to get an idea on how we are going to set-up the group.
Holiday Concert: Thursday, December 9th

4 rehearsal days left until the dress rehearsals for the concert
