VIVA LA VIDA







Frontman Chris Martin told Rolling Stone that he christened this song and the album "Viva la Vida" - meaning "long live life" or more literally, "the life lives" -[after he saw the phrase on a painting by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.  Referring to Frida Kahlo's strength, enduring polio, a broken spine, and a decade of chronic pain, he said, "She went through a lot of [things], of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said 'Viva la Vida', I just loved the boldness of it."

 She painted "Sandías con leyenda: Viva la vida" (literal translation: "Watermelons with legend: The life lives") in 1954, shortly before her death

The movie Frida, starring Salma Hayek, is about her life. 

The song was released on 13 June 2008 as the album's second single, debuting to critical and commercial success. "Viva la Vida" reached the top spot of the UK Singles Chart and Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band's first number-one single in both the US and UK. The song won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009. The song became the sixth song in digital history to reach the 4 million mark in paid downloads.  It has sold 5.2 million copies in the United States by November 2011, becoming the third best-selling song by a British act in the digital era.

MY IMMORTAL

"My Immortal" is a song by the

American rock band Evanescence

It was released on December 8, 2003 as the third single from their debut studio album Fallen. The lyrics and the piano for this song were written by former
guitarist and co-founder Ben Moody, with the exception of the bridge, which
was later added by Amy Lee, and it was produced by Dave Fortman.  It was one
of Evanescence's first songs, and was supposed to be on their first EP, but they
decided to remove it as a last minute change).  The song is set in common time and performed in slow and free tempo of 80 beats per minute. Lee's vocal
range for the song runs from the musical note of A3 to C♯5. The lyrics of the
song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one.


Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in
1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording private albums, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen,
on Wind-up Records in 2003.

LEGENDS OF THE FALL

Legends Of The Fall





"Legends of the Fall" is a 1994 drama film based on the 1979 novella of the same title by Jim Harrison. Stars Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, and Aidan Quinn. The film won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography, The theme music was composed by James Roy Horner,

PUMPED UP KICKS





"Pumped Up Kicks" is a song by American indie pop band Foster the People. It was released as the group's debut single in September 2010, and was later included on their EP Foster the People and their debut album Torches. "Pumped Up Kicks" became the group's breakthrough hit and was one of the most popular songs of 2011. The song was written and recorded by front man Mark Foster while he was working as a commercial jingle writer. Mark Foster explained the song's meaning, "'Pumped Up Kicks' is about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge." The song he said, "is really about bullying, and the tragedy that bullying produces ... if that kid retaliates in a nasty way; both sides end up being harmed."

DYNAMITE





This party anthem is the second single released by British R&B singer-songwriter and producer Taio Cruz in Canada and the US. It served as the follow-up to his #1 hit, "Break Your Heart." The song is taken from the international edition of Cruz's second album, Rokstarr (the song being released in the UK on the 23rd of August 2010). According to Cruz, "The song 'Dynamite' itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when you're just going out... you got to feel like, 'I'm just gonna explode.'"

BAD ROMANCE



"Bad Romance" is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga.


It was released as the lead single from her third extended play (EP), and second major release The Fame Monster (2009). Written by Lady Gaga and produced by RedOne. "Bad Romance" reached number one in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Denmark, also peaking at number two in countries such as the United States, Australia and New Zealand. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the song has sold 9.7 million copies worldwide in 2010. "Bad Romance" was praised by most critics, who compared it to Gaga's second single, "Poker Face". It was also ranked the ninth best song by Rolling Stone in their list of the "25 Best Songs of 2009" and received the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
